Carl Gustaf Theodore Olson was a Swedish-born American painter known for his serene New England landscapes, snow scenes, and coastal waterscapes. Working primarily in oil, Olson combined realist precision with impressionist sensitivity to light and atmosphere. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1892, he studied under Peter Roos in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and later exhibited at the 1923 Gothenburg Tercentenary Exposition in Sweden. A longtime educator and Assistant Principal at Belmont High School, Olson remained active as a painter throughout his life. His work is noted for its quiet elegance, balanced composition, and deep connection to place.
