American oil on board farm scene in the naive/folk art style by Minnesota artist Mollie Herbrandson. Herbrandson took up painting as a hobby at the age of 68 and was often compared to Grandma Moses. She resided in Petersburg, Minnesota, and this painting depicts her view from a window at Sunset House. An inscription on the verso reads, “To Mrs. Bella Egertson, From Aunt Mollie.” Herbrandson was the cousin of Edward Egertson, Bella’s husband. The painting is pictured in an accompanying newspaper article about Herbrandson (still attached to painting on verso); a copy of the article is included in the information folder on the back of the piece.
Thoughtfully finished with acid-free archival materials. Presented in an antique frame with some imperfections.
