French school architectural ceiling study circa 1830-1850. Opaque watercolor, gold paint and graphite on paper. Handwritten "Salle à Manger" (dining room) at top center. Drawings like this were produced as working designs for French interiors of the period. Formerly in the collection of Shepherd Gallery Associates, New York, a long-established dealer in European works on paper. Inscribed in faded black ink on verso at lower left: ED. no 28.
