Robert Motley lived from 1887-1962. He was an American impressionist painter and dentist, born in Michigan. Motley was a member of the Washington Art Club and exhibited with that group as well as the Washington Landscape Club and the Society of Washington Artists. He was a self taught artist and spent time in the Army before settling in Washington DC, where he remained until his death.
